Executive Search

Building a Confidential Search Process That Protects Everyone

30 May 2026 · 5 min read

Confidential searches are commissioned for good reasons: an incumbent replacement, a pre-announcement restructure, or a market-sensitive expansion. The process design has to protect the client, the incumbent and the candidates equally.

Anonymised briefing documents, tightly controlled candidate lists and staged disclosure protocols allow a search to progress without exposing the mandate. Every approach should be made by a named consultant under clear confidentiality terms.

Documentation matters. Agree in advance who knows what, at what stage, and what happens if the process is discovered internally or externally.
